This course introduces candidates to the movement concepts, motor development principles, and instructional practices essential for supporting young children’s physical growth and whole‑child learning. Candidates explore gross and fine motor development, developmental milestones, and the role of play‑based, inclusive movement experiences in early childhood settings.
Through readings, demonstrations, field experiences, and hands‑on planning, candidates learn to design developmentally appropriate movement lessons, support diverse learners through inclusive adaptations, integrate movement across academic content areas, use formative assessment to guide instruction, and engage families in supporting motor development at home. The course emphasizes professional dispositions, ethical practice, and reflective growth. Field experience is included to connect theory with real‑world application.
