This course prepares preservice secondary teachers to integrate evidence-based reading and literacy strategies into their subject-area instruction. Rooted in the Science of Reading, the course explores how adolescent learners develop advanced reading skills and how teachers can support comprehension, vocabulary, fluency, and disciplinary literacy in grades 7–12. Students will learn to analyze complex texts, design SoR-aligned instruction, assess literacy skills, and differentiate for diverse learners, all while aligning with Ohio Learning Standards and the Ohio Standards for the Teaching Profession.
